If you truly don't classify people than why are you asking this question?
Everyone in the uniform is an American or fighting for America. Some are hoping to gain their citzenship and the right to be called American. A risk worth dying for in their view.
As far as the first poster I gave a thumbs down because she implies that the military is actively recruiting the poor (read undeducated implied) to exploit. Tired of that stupidity.

I go with all the "American" only comments.
If anyone has ancestors that came here because everything was great in the old country feel free to correct this statement.

Any American in uniform that doesn't skip out on training to go work for a their father's friend political campaign during the Vietnam War to only grow up to lead this great nation in to war with only half a plan is a great soilder

You are trying to align yourself with those that despise you and its also insulting to any fallen soldier to call some soldiers "best," as if the others are any less than; in case you forgot, we're in the middle of a war and everyday families are being notified and ripped apart.
