We lost our cocaktiel in April and now I have someone that says she has found him. He was not banded.
Our Cockatiel was on the ZuPreem bird food and he hated the yellow bananas. Not only would he not eat them but he would throw them out of his cage. The "Found" cockatiel is doing the same thing.
Our Cocaktiel use to hiss if we picked up a handtowel in the kitchen (we used a small baby blanket to clip his wings). Well we tested this bird out and again he does the same thing.
I haven't seen him in person yet but I've heard him singing over the phone and he doesn't make the same sounds are ours did. But, I've seen pictures and again, he looks just like ours.
My husband is being difficult and doesn't think it's worth driving a couple of hours to see if he's ours. I do. What do you guys think??? I'm unsure but I have to go see if it's him.
Age, Sex, same as ours
By the way, I have a trip planned on Sunday to go and see him

Everything matches except a few sounds he's making..I think it's definitely worth the trip. He could've picked up new sounds from wild birds while he was loose. Even if it isnt your bird, atleast you'd know, and not have to worry and feel guilty that you let your husband talk you out of going, and it could've been your bird. If anything, leave your husband at home and go by yourself. It sounds like he didnt really care about the bird to begin with or else he'd want to know just as badly as you if it was your bird or not. Go..The best thing that could happen is you're reunited with your baby....the worst thing, its not your bird but atleast you'd know.

Personally I would go. We had severalcockatiels andloved each dearly. You have to keep inmind that it may sound diferent over the phone because of the fact that you are not there in person the phone can distort sounds... See how the 'found' teil reacts to you, thats a sure fired way to see if its yours..

Go see the bird, most definitely.
The more I know men, the more I like my birds.
You must be sure it is or is not your bird for you to sleep at night. What is hubby thinking????? Hope you do not have children.

I would go and see if it could possibly be the lost bird, hey if it isn't your bird then all you are really out is the gasoline that it took to get there.

If there is any possibility that it is your cockatiel, then certainly, yes go see it! What's two hours if it means you might get your bird back?
Please let us know how it went and if it was your cockatiel or not.

Yes, definitely go see! It's understandable that you'd want to since pets tend to become a part of the family. If it's not yours, then at least you tried.
