I just got a bike today and i really like it, but i noticed that there's no kickstand for it, and I'm just curious as to why there's not one, its just one of those things that I assumed was there, and it wasn't.

I race mountain bikes, because of this I have seen many different mountain bikes and none of them have kickstands on them. Mountain bikes do not need kickstands because it is dangerous and less efficient to have it on there. I do know where you are coming from, I was recently at a bike race and it was muddy and I would have liked to have had a kickstand to use but I found it just as easy to lean it against a tree, table, car, etc.. If you do not ride trails you can always buy a kickstand and install it. However it you do trail ride then do not install a kickstand. Having the kickstand will make your bike heavier and things (sticks, mud, dirt, etc) can get caught in it and can cause you to crash.

Go to any bike shop or online bike store. There are: - kickstands that can be mounted to any bike (although some of them look plain ugly) - stands that you can either put on the floor or hook onto your bike and park your bike temporarily. Some of them are lightweight and flodable so you can take them along on the road, others are intended to stay in the garage (or wherever you want to put your bike) - wall hangers where you can hook in a wheel, a pedal or the frame's top tube - ceiling hangers with ropes/pulleys or gas-pressure springs As for me - well, all (except for the lowracer) of our bikes have kickstands, but I store them by hanging them vertically from a few IKEA heavy duty shelf posts with the associated hooks (not in the catalogue any more).

Mountain bikes don't have a kickstand. It's not safe for the type of riding the bike is supposed to ride.
For one, it will probably rattle a lot, and it might drop while you're riding the bike. Don't worry about it.

Few adult bikes have kickstands. If you look at road bikes, they rarely have kickstands either. If you want a kickstand, it is possible to add one later.
Why? It is another piece that a bike company would have to add to the bike. But, I am guessing that few people care if there is a kickstand.

Adult Bikes normally don't come w/ kickstands specially mountain & road bikes.
Aside from adding unnecessary bulk & weight they could cause spills if they get entangled.

you dont need a kickstand it is just extra weight and when honestly will you use it you always lean your bike up against something when you go to lock it so there is really no need
