My new boyfriend and I are so different in so many ways: age (he is 12 years senior), upbringing (he is a very typical Southern boy and I and a European), religion ( he is a Protestant and I am an atheist), political views (he voted for Bush and I am a liberal), food (he is fine with fast food and I am quite a gourmet) and STILL we get along so great. We laugh and we enjoy each other and time together. Maybe because we both respect each other and do not try to change each other but I am concerned of what the future might hold. Will these differences start driving us apart? Or is it possible to still love and care for each other regardless of the differences as long as we respect each others' boundaries? Anyone had experience with it?

It's the Opposites that attract - but the Similarities that keep you together after that.

What do the two of you have in common? Make sure that you do see eye-to-eye on certain things (for example: do you both want kids down the road?) - and don't let the differences keep you apart.

As long as none of your differences are "deal breakers" - then you have the foundation for a great relationship!

They might, but only if you let them. I personally would find it awkward to have a bf who is 10 years older than me.
