The sooner you eat protein after you finish your hard workout, the quicker you will recover. Eating food, particularly protein, immediately after you finish your workout helps muscles heal faster. Eating extra protein reduces muscle damage during hard exercise. Eating carbohydrates along with a protein building block called leucine helps you to recover even faster.

Perhaps you enjoy meat sources of protein, but if not, you can certainly get adequate amounts of protein from plant foods - whole grains, legumes, vegetables, seeds and nuts. Soy protein is equivalent to the protein you would get from meat, chicken, fish or eggs.

Drink lots of water and rest. Muscles are 75% water and when they tear that is when you get the soreness. As a result of the tiny muscle tears the body makes more muscule cells. So after you cool down just lay around and relax for a while. Also heat patches or solanpass patches might help increase circulation in specific areas and speed healing.

Protein one hour before working out and then protein and carbs directly after the workout. This will slow down the breakdown of muscle, "feed" them, and help them heal faster.

You can take creatine, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I would drink lots of water and maybe a protein shake.
