Can any Nation's Troops be loyal to the Nation if they include illgal aliens merely serving as a trade off for US citizenship? Who's to say that illegal foreign aliens will really owe their allegiance to the U.S. If they would willingly die to get US citizenship, who says they aren't easily bribed for huge sums of cash?

Who's been snitching on the whereabouts and movements of our Troops to allow all those bombs to be set to go off and killing so many?

Can the U.S, trust the loyalty of illegal foreign aliens? Would we be training illegal aliens who will in the future backfire on us? How can US have reliable and loyal Servicemen and women when they are all not US citizens?

They can serve completely honorably!
Personally I am very against illegals, however, I really do believe that serving this country should be a legal path to citizenship and I believe it should be the ONLY shortcut to the long legal imigration process that anyone who wants to become a citizen should have to go through.

What could prove their desire to become a citizen more than being willing to fight and die for this country.???
If they are willing to serve and be honorable I think the illegals should be allowed and even encouraged to seek that path.

I have two nephews serving in Iraq right now and I fully support them and their mission.

This is for the Army. All Forces have the same citizenship/RESIDENT Alien requirements.

Enlist : Requirements

The basic qualifications for enlistment in the U.S. Army include:

• being from 17 to 34 years old
• be a U.S. citizen or resident alien, (must have the I-551)
• have a high school diploma or equivalent (such as a GED)
• be single with no children or married with 2 or less children
• pass the ASVAB test and
• pass the physical

You should also not be undergoing any civil actions; certain law violations will disqualify you.

You are not required to have a High School Diploma.

There are also weight and physical fitness requirements that must be met in order to join the U.S. Army.

There is another question very similar to this on this forum, and you should look at it too.

Illegal 'aliens', Illegal immigrants, undocumented aliens, etc., cannot serve in the Armed Forces.

However a person who has legally immigrated to the US may serve in the Armed Forces to aid in their application for citizenship. Many people from around the world join the Armed Forces as a way to citizenship, but more often join as a way of thanking their host country for allowing them to come to the US.

Again, Illegal Immigrants CANNOT join the Armed Forces. The military has and will continue to accept applicants who have legally entered the US and wish to become full citizens.

As far as I know there are no illegal aliens serving in the military as you have to have an I551(green Card) and be a legal immigrant to join.......so I guess your question is WAY OFF TRACK. In addition, serving in the military you still have to apply and be approved to get your citizenship. Someone is obviously giving you bad info, or your just putting it out there yourself

Your misinformed.

illegal alien immigrants are NOT eligible to enlist in the US Military.

You must be either a permanent legal resident alien or a Green Card holder to enlist.

And even they do not receive citizenship just for serving.

The law just reduces the residency requirements for legal immigrants before they can apply for citizenship.

But they still must apply and meet all the same qualifications as all other legal immigrants, to receive citizenship.

While I was active duty in the Marine Corps, I had a room-mate who was a Columbian working towards citizenship, he emigrated legally, and was one of the best Marines, and arguably best Americans, I have ever met, he was so proud to be allowed to wear the Eagle, Globe and Anchor and to serve this country, and knew more about what it meant to be a citizen than most....I wouldn't hesitate to trust him with my life, sure, that can't speak for all "aliens" serving for citizenship, but it's good enough for me

America was built by Foreigners who believe in the policy and procedures of what our Constitution stands for. There are Foreign Nationals who absolutely honor the American way and honor proudly by serving in our Military. We have more U.S. citizens who constantly complain about how unhappy there are. We might not have a perfect government, but it is the best anywhere. Why shouldn't they have a chance to serve proudly. We have always had Foreign Nationals who aided the Americans.

Hmmm where to begin.....look man i have family and friends in the service and they are out there risking their lives to give us the freedoms that we cherish so much. I know for a fact that the US is not purposely looking for "Illegals" to cover the armed forces because we have enough brave Americans (which include legal residents) that can serve our country. But lets just think for one minute that the US puts serving the military as one of the requirements to get the citizenship...well as a US citizen i would give my hat off to whoever that might be because they did something that i wouldn't do myself because of the sacrifice involved .Our service men and women risk more than their lives, they risk losing relationships, they are in risk of psychological trauma, lost of lims......well in the end, you get the idea. I think if they were to do that it would be plenty for me to accept someone into our country.

They can't be illegal if they serve in the military. I say if they are willing to serve they deserve citizenship!

Those serving who are non-citizens are not illegal immigrants. They are legal immigrants with a green card.
