I was wondering if anyone knew the organizations that will except a minimum of 6" of hair. I had donated 2 times before to Locks of Love, but they require a minimum of 10". Someone recently told me that there is an organization that accepts a minimum of 6". Does anyone know?

I donated mine to "locks of love" to be used to make wigs for cancer victims. you can find them online.
By the way, great question and good for you for thinking of doing this.

If you want to donate your hair (if you have more than 8 or so inches to spare- you should look at fantastic sams- they are affiliated with a program called locks of love that takes your hair and makes wigs for chemo patients. This particular store was good- I had a really nice lady cut my hair- it just was generally a great atmosphere. Another customer said that exact thing while i was there. So you knwo others feel this way...
and if you donate your hair, the cut and style is free. =)

Most places will not accept hair that short unless they plan to sell it. In fact, Locks of Love sells all the hair they receive and their wigs do not go to those with cancer. You would truthfully be better off by selling the hair on your own and donating the money to some group.

i'm not sure about anything other than locks of love, but i found this on their website:

"Please Note: Hair that is 6-10 inches in length will be accepted and sold at fair market value to offset the manufacturing costs. Although the shorter hair cannot be used in the hairpieces, it still greatly helps to reduce costs. "
