I know that sounds contradictory, but let me explain...

In response to my last question, many many people explained to me that the "choice" isn't the be attracted to the same sex; the "choice" is to engage in sexual intimacy with members of the same sex. They basically told my that homosexuals ARE born "that way", but that they are commanded never to act upon their inborn nature.

So.... why is it that God would create someone as a homosexual only to command them NEVER to form the only kind of relationship that would be natural to them? Is it some very very cruel way to teach them to deprive themselves of a fulfilling love life, to teach them that they don't deserve the only kind of real love they can possibly experience (given that they were born gay)?

(Oh, and if you start comparing homosexuality to pẹdọphịlịạ or bẹstịạlịty or something ridiculous like that, so help me....... I will be VERY upset, so DON'T DO IT. We all know it's an unfair and irrelevant comparison)

Christianity tends to bend and flex with the times. This is just their way of accepting the growing evidence that sexual orientation is not an active choice, but inherent.

I actually once saw an answer that basically said, "So what if they're born gay? I was born a liar and a thief, but that doesn't mean that I can lie and steal all I want."

They just continue to cast their god in an even harsher light. And they don't even see it.

I don't have a direct answer to your question (which is a very good one btw!) but I do have a research tip for you if you have not employed it yet: 1) find any book or article that states homosexuality is not a choice 2) there should be some sort of reference in the article of research that has been done to prove the point (depending on the citation style, it could be in the text or in an appendix, etc). Anyway, just find someone else who says it and look up what they used as a reference! Your public library should have some books where you can at least get a start. If you go to a university, the university library usually have article databases that are free for students that you can look into. And there's always "google scholar"! Hope that was somewhat useful

They are not Born that way this excuse was made up so those around them would be easier accepting them because it was not their fault. Why doesn't anyone accept responsibility for what they do and where they Go instead of Blaming it always on some else or something,I know then they would have to be accountable and take responsibility for their actions and then what? Then they may find them selves a sinner in the eyes of God and begin to Repent, confess the birth of Jesus as savior and believe that as bad as they are or as good as they think they have been that Jesus loved so much he died for them and upon their confession of faith the forgiveness of the Lord they will receive and be born again into the new family of God having their past put behind and now living for the present. All sin brings forth spirtiual death. That can not be changed by man so they infeccet the world with anything goes and they reap what they sow.Yea.

Logic doesn't apply when it comes to opinion. This subject is pure opinion at this time. No evidence people are born that way. Does it really matter what our opinions are? The question is what is God's stand on this issue. It doesn't get any more clear than what is written in the first book all the way to Jude. From the way God created us as male and female, to all of the commands against this behavior. Created male and female, physically unique for each other is enough evidence against homosexuality. Any sexual behavior outside of the way God commanded us, is sin. In the end, what you think or we think, won't matter. I don't care if people say they are attracted to the same sex or not. I don't care if every Christian on the planet said it was ok. It doesn't matter because God is the one who sets the agenda. Sin is sin.

It is contradictory, and your explanation does not really address it.

Homosexuality is a deviation from the norm, sexual relations between a man and a woman. So it is a perversion, just like bestiality, pedophilia and incest. These are all deviations from the norm.

We deviate because we are sinful. God created us with a pure nature and a pure sexual expression of that. So, God didn't "make us" homosexual. Nor did He "make us" murders who cannot control our compulsions, or alcoholics who cannot control taking a drink, or addicts who can't stop taking drugs.

We are fallen and we pervert every good thing God created us for. Homosexuality, unfortunately, has become less vilified than it has in the past ... and not nearly as accepted as it has in the further past. But, it is simply an expression of our sin nature.

God creates humanity. But since Adam's fall, all are born in sin. That sin takes many roots. Whether it be lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, or the pride of life. It is one of these yet many variants thereof. You must be born again to see the Kingdom of God. Once you are born again you will then have the power to overcome bondage to sin (of which homosexuality is only one of a multitude of sins). A Christian then is able to walk with the Lord and be an over comer as they become more like Christ.

As SDC stated, homosexuality is a choice. No one is "born" homosexual. God created everyone is His image. Just as adultery is a sin, so is homosexuality.

Someone who finds themselves attracted to someone of the same sex is being tempted by Satan, just like someone who is heterosexual and attracted to a person who is married. Same situation...they have a choice -- either to give in to temptation, or pray for strength to overcome it. God will never tempt us beyond what we can endure.

One of the many reasons I am not a Christian. I cannot believe a god would create people a certain way and then condemn the for it.

And I know what you mean, every time I ask a question about gay rights, I always get some fundies comparing it to pedophilia or bestiality. They are doing it to be insulting.

I have answered this question before, but I am happy to do it again. First of all, WE ARE ALL BORN INTO SIN. HOMOSEXUALITY IS A SIN. THE BIBLE CALLS IT A SIN. Jesus said to Nicodemis, "No one can enter the kingdom of heaven unless he is BORN AGAIN."
Being BORN AGAIN, one must REPENT OF ALL SINS (including homosexuality), ask God for forgiveness, confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, and obey His commandments. Now, once one is BORN AGAIN, they will be made a "new creature" in Christ. They will have a NEW HEART. They will not have the lustful desires of the flesh (including homosexuality). There have been many BORN AGAIN Christians who have been released from the bondage (sin) of homosexuality. They will tell you they were living in sin, and that they have been saved from it. If you don't believe me, just ask someone who has been.

It's not God that has created this dilemma, but the churches/religion.

In fact I don't think God has much to do with anything on earth. God's in Heaven, man is on Earth and never the twain shall meet.

Churches need to get over trying to rule people's lives.

And yes, most of the gay people I know feel that they were born that way.

The best way to look at homosexuality is in its proper perspective: as one of several perfectly natural **variations** of NORMALCY.

About one in every 20 people is homosexual.

And, one in every 10 people is left-handed. That's *another* perfectly natural variation of normalcy.

Fortunately for left-handers, there is NOT an arrogant, obnoxious, hateful, and bone-ignorant collection of whiney losers who lack only the torches and pitchforks, seeking to deny equal rights to them, and inanely trying to make it illegal for them to harmlessly marry other left-handers.

Homosexuality is just as normal for them as heterosexuality is for the rest of us. They have sex in private, just as the heteros do, and their sexual orientation therefore is NO one else's business. (Not the business of any sensible and RATIONAL person, at least.)
