I've received my free "Express Upgrade to Windows Vista" for my Dell laptop. I want to install it, but I've heard bad things about Vista - that upgrading with a disc doesn't work, and the Vista is just plain bad, and one should stick with XP. I do a lot of web browsing on my PC, but really the only major program I run is "The Sims 2," and I want to play that. I know that I will have to wipe my hard drive, but I'm prepared to do that. Is it worth un-installing all my virus protection, wiping, and upgrading, or should I stick with XP? Or,. should I sped extra money on a better upgrade? I don't want to aggrivate my parents any more that I have to.

I have learned that if you don't have a specific need to load Vista that you are better off leaving XP loaded. You need to ask yourself what Vista will do for you that XP won't. Vista will just take more memory away and may look cooler but to me it is not worth the risk until the bugs are resolved.

Don't use Vista, stay tuned with Windows XP.
Vista is not fully stable at the moment, maybe in a year time everything will be okay. Lot of applications/games has incompatibility issue or problems with Windows Vista.

Always, apply updates to your Windows XP.

Honestly i felt the same way. all the comercials and things saying its nothing good at all, but in my experience (ive had it for about a month now) its way better. but i advise you, make sure you have a good Graphics Card. otherwise it wont be as nice. the cool features wont be available without it, though the OS in general is awesome. BTW i have the Ultimate, i have never been on anything else. sorry if that is a problem!
