He is acting great feeling great and healed. I noticed that only one of his testicles has reduced it's size but the other is still about the same. Is this normal? How long will it take for the other to shrink if at all. Thank you for your help.

There is a small incision between his penus and testicles. When he came home from the vet he still had both testicles but they are shrinking.

Why in the world would you have a 9yo dog neutered? A 5mo old dog I understand, but a 9yo? There will be no benefits from it unless he was extremely dominant and aggressive. Even then, the benefits would be minuscule.

Ask the vet about the swelling. The scrotum should be empty now with no lumps.

They remove the testicles when they are neutered, but there can be some swelling for a few weeks. If it is still there in a week, you should have your vet check him out to make sure everything is OK. If there is a blood clot in the sack, the swelling may take longer to go away. An older dog will take longer to heal.

The benefits of neutering an older dog are to decrease testicular cancer and to relieve prostrate problems--both common in older males.

Your dog hasn't got any testicles if he was neutered. Neutering completely removes the testicles.

The scrotum usually remains as many vets don't remove that along with the testicles. The scrotum will shrink over the course of time, although in older dogs or large/giant breed dogs it may not completely shrink like it would in younger or smaller dogs.

Maybe it still not completely heal yet. t might be still swelling. Give it some times. It will go down, but ask the doctor to make sure. My dog humped the other dogs for awhile after he had it done. It normal for dogs.

Did they only do the equivalent of a vasectomy, where they only snip the connection but leave the balls, so he still produces hormones. If thats the case, they shouldnt shrink at all. And if they did the full job, he shouldnt have balls at all.

Perhaps the vet didn't see the other testicle and wasn't able to remove it.
