As human beings we are to be over the animals of the earth, sea, and sky. I help as many as possible but also they provide substance to live by. Most people that drive vehicles seem to forget if it wasn't for the animals in the past then they would be walking . The plastic items they have in their dwellings wouldn't be there either so you treat animals with care but also they are here to provide us companionship, interest, education, and food. They do not have the same rights as human beings!!!!!!!!

I think we should have a relationship with animals similar to that of the native Americans. Respect what we use, care for and manage responsibly all life on the planet.

I don't think I said that as well as I wanted to! ;)

Thanks for the correction! I am an atheist and to find out how I feel about animals read my profile and my latest question, which I would say has started a controversy, except everyone is against me.

Question for fourmorebeers: So, it's ok to be cruel sometimes?

In one word, harmonious.

I'm glad that there are organizations out there like the ASPCA that take care of our domesticated beastie friends, as well as the Audobon Society and several other zoological organizations.

We know our place in the world concerning animals. Humanity's dominion on this planet may have disrupted the social union of our flora and fauna predecessors, but we're trying to make up for it.

Well at least that of respect for other animals of this planet...we are just one of them after all, even if we're the oddballs. Should be grateful that some other creatures seem to like us for some reason (like our pets, and wild animals like dolphins that are often curious of humans) though we are the only species capable of not only destroying them, but ourselves as well.

We have a responsibility to not be cruel to them. That does not preclude using them for food, however. They should be killed quickly and humanely, and where possible and normal, they should get regular veterinary care. That means any animals normally kept as pets or farm animals. That means that very few grizzly bears, moose, or field mice are going to get veterinary care, of course, but a pet dog, a horse, or cows should.

What does not believing in a specific God have to do with animals?
If you really want to kno... I - as a person - love animals and think we should work harder to preserve their natural enviroments instead of selling them to developers.

What does religious belief have to do with ones relations with animals?

I love animals. You don't see a bear killing for sport, greed, or religion do you?

And some people worship a deity that demanded animal sacrifices. How ludicrous is that!
