I would think an ivory/cream color. This would keep the cabinets light in color but not the stark white. It should blend well with your other colors. If you paint another green or brownish shade I think it might be to much green and brown would darken the room. What color is your cabinet hardware? Brushed nickel would look nice if you are changing that too.

Well, one thing you should ask yourself is: do you want the room to match other rooms in the house? If so, go with a similar color. Say the main color in your living room is a burgundy. Go with a similar color for the cabinets, or a blue or green near the same intensity as burgundy is.
In the end, it's all a matter of personal preference, and it will be your decision. Just think twice about cream on white. They are very similar in color and could possibly clash.

Red is a very "in" color for cabinets right now and they actually look very good. Paint the cabinets the same color as your counter tops and the doors and drawers a nice shade of red. Add a couple of red canisters, etc to sit on the counters and it will be beautiful.

You could do white, but you may find that your cream/vanilla will look like white that has yellowed and that won't make you happy.
I'd rather have more info to suggest a color, but on the basis of what you gave me, I'd suggest a tobacco color or a really nice cranberry red... but it all depends on the rest of your decor. If you email me with more info, I'll be more than happy to help.
Here is a link to paint colors that is (in my humble opinion) the best on the web...

It depends on what type/color floors you have. If they are also cream, or wood, you can use just about any color you want.
My cabinets are sage green, my walls are a soft yellow, my floors are red and cream checkerboard tile, and the counter tops are cream.

If the decision is to paint, white would have the best resale and make the kitchen the brightest. Can't go wrong with white since many new cabinets are sold that way.

I would pick a birght color to contrast with the cream counter tops. Maybe a navy blue or bright red, depends on your taste.

That might be a lot of white, but I love white cabinets personally. Then you could accessorize with other colours.
