How do you pick one? I don't want a real bright green, nor a dark gray green, but here are still at least a hundred to choose from. I'd rather not spend the money on buying multiple samples and I want to get started. The on line color painter systems don't have true colors.Help!

Congratulations on choosing green as a bedroom color! It's one of the most relaxing colors to paint a room (providing you don't do it neon green!)

To help you narrow down your choice, there are a few things you should consider, the most important being: What direction does your room face: North, South, East, West? If it faces North, choose a warm green (one with yellow in it). If you choose a cool green (think cucumber - the inside), you'll find your room too cold in winter. If it faces south, choose a cool green color, otherwise you may feel like you're suffocating in the summer months.

Not only do the online color samples not have true color, but you will rarely get the real color on paint chips in the stores. The reason for this is two-fold: the finish of the paint used for the paint chip and the lighting in the store.

I understand about not wanting to go out and buy multiple samples... I HATE doing that and RARELY do so...

There are 2 things to remember about paint color:
1. You won't see the real color result until at least 72 hours after applying the paint (if it's latex paint) and 96 hours after application (if it's oil paint). The paint will be completely dry after this time. Keep in mind that paint darkens as it dries.

2. Paint absorbs light. The more light you have in a room, the lighter your paint will appear... Bear that in mind, especially if you're planning on painting a darker color. Also, the ceiling absorbs 20% less light than the walls so if you paint the ceiling, paint it a lighter green than the walls... Oh... and white ceilings are not in anymore...

Oh yes... and one other thing... the sheen on the paint makes a difference too. The glossier the paint is, the more light it will reflect. But the downside is that the shinier it is, the more the defects in the walls will show....

Here is a link for a website that has (in my humble opinion) the best paint colors on the web... I've set it to the greens for you... My 3 favoriite greens are in the middle row numbers:
108-5: Almost Aloe
108-6: Celery sprig
108-7: Green pear

Oh... one very last thing: when choosing your paint color, choose a name that is complex (meaning it has at least 2 names to describe it - such as celery sprig). That means the color is complex and will be richer and thicker.

Enjoy your new green room! You'll love the relaxation feeling of green!

When it comes to green for a bedroom, I prefer Celadon which is the color of the green china. At one home I used a Martin Senour paint and I believe the name was Tidal Pool. It was a very livable shade.

If you find a dish or a piece of fabric, most paint dealers will custom mix your color using a computer system.

Recently, I also became partial to the Martha Stewart colors at Sherwin Williams.

You can go to Home Depot and get free samples. They are on the little cards. Just keep in mind that all of the samples are going to be darker on your walls as there will be a much larger area of paint than what is on that little card! I choose a very lovely butter yellow for my bedroom and it turned out to be almost caution yellow! So my advice is to choose one that is a great color in a shade or two lighter than your original thought.
Have fun!

Go to Home Depot and look at the samples hanging on the walls. You can take those for free if you want to bring them home to look. If I was going to do a green, I would do a deep olive green. Navy blue accents would compliment the olive green and make a bold statement.

It depends on what colors you want to use as accents (bed linens, curtains, carpet, pillows, etc). Personally, I love sage or sea foam green.

Make sure you pick out a light color. It will look darker when it's on all four walls.
