I am dealing on a car I found through an online search. I spoke with the seller, and his company prefers a bank to bank wire transfer of funds. He would fax the paperwork, I would sign, and return. I would then wire the money. This company has an excellent rating on eBay as well. Is this safe? How can I tell? Thanks

A wire transfer is safe but I don't think thats ultimately your question... I think you are really asking whether or not you should trust this guy.

If you have to question it... maybe you should go with your gut

You'd be amazed how many co's do wire transfer. In the corporate world, wire transfert of several millsion dollars are not unusual.

No matter how you pay, there is No
F%%%%%G WAY I'd buy a car without seeing it first. Or pay thru wire transfer!. this way he gets your $$$ and you get the shaft if the car turns out to be a lemon. .

I don't know...but I'd really think twice before doing this...

can't he accept wertern union?

maby you could open an account just long enough to get the transfer done and then close the account again.

I wouldn't buy a car sight unseen and I wouldn't pay without IMMEDIATELY recieving the title of at least a bill of sale.

Your bank will confirm that the receiving bank is legit. They don't want to lose the money any more that you do.

Never under any circumstances wire money out of the country.

Sounds like a scam to me... Don't supply any personal information to the requesting institution unless it is done directly through YOUR bank. "PayPal" is your best bet if your aren't familiar with the other party's financial institution and especially if that institution is requesting information from you via e-mail. This is NOT a good sign.

before doing a transfer, do you know anyone in the area the car is in? so you could have them check it out for you? if not ,run don't walk, away from this deal.
