Yes I read the bible. It might have been the biggest reason for turning me into an atheist.

Yes. When I was a "spiritualist" (something like a lame excuse for a Zen Buddhist) I read the Bible from cover to cover. Even before I became a Christian, I was very interested in the Christian moral system as compared to the warrior ethos of the Norse pagans, the pleasure-based ethos of the Southern European pagans, and the ascetic spiritualism of the East.

The first time I read the bible it was do to boredom, I had a lot of time on my hands and not much else to do, and yes it was/is entertaining and full of useful facts that were used to help develop the society that we enjoy today and there is still lots of useful information there to learn even more from - things that as we live and learn will help us all. I learned my faith from it and moral codes that have helped me beyond any other text I have read yet. I would ask that you read it carefully and look deep into its pages for understanding.

Yep, I did. I found it to be a difficult read, confusing and contradictory. Then I became a believer and walked in faith. That's when it all began to make a lot of sense. Without God's help you cannot understand it. These things are hidden from those who refuse to believe.

I know a Muslim Cleric who was ordered to read it by his Emir and to write a book about the Bible proving once and for all that the Bible is false.
In the process, guess what happened?
See the video in the link below which documents his life below:

To do that I would have to make an a priori assumption about the Bible... that it is no more than a novel, a tale, a story. I prefer not to prejudge it before I read it.

Yes, before I was a Christian, I read Genesis and the gospel of Matthew. Let me tell you I had some pretty weird ideas about what was going on in there, but Jesus really intrigued me. The more I read the more I learned about him and his mission on this planet :)

What an extremely odd question. How could a born again Christian, who has the spirit of God within them, read His word without faith? Excuse me but.....this question makes no sense.

Well that's your opinion, if you read it you wouldn't have anything negative to say, you might have some faith in it. you should look at john Clayton's web sight he started out an atheist. a good thing to do is read it, then try looking at some well known scholars and historians read what they have to say or what their views are.
