I have a perfect credit record and no felonies, but driving has been my damnation. I have several speeding tickets (20 over the limit.. in VA these are misdemeanors), went to jail for 2 days for (I have only 1, 3 years ago) a DUI, and went to jail for 2 days for speeding constantly (2 months ago) I currently have a restricted driver's license and will be on probation (from VA's DMV due to accumulated points) starting June, although my restricted's license will be ok after September, but my driver's license probation will end in Dec. 2007. Everything else in my life is perfect. Will this affect my getting a job? Will this appear on my background check (they are asking my for my driver's license number)?

This is just a regular background check... it's for a non-clearance job.

They will check your credit history, your criminal record, civil suits you were involved in and your driver's license record. Yes those offenses will affect you - negatively. The speeding is bad enough, but the drunk driving is inexcusable. They will assume that if you drive that immaturely and exercise such poor judgment you might not be mature enough to work for them. If they discuss it with you, plead your case by telling them you were stupid but have learned your lesson etc. Groveling is the only thing that can save you. I certainly hope you have learned your lesson, you need a good job to pay your high insurance rates.

The company I worked for advance into waiting to acquire any legal quotes. i'm uncertain why they ask for the 7 12 months term...perchance it just to weed out preliminary purposes that have had a legal interior the final 7 years. I mean, in the event that they ran a history examine on every person that could value quite a few funds. i think of that's a technique they use to weed out applicants interior the beginning up. I do have self assurance they are going to be waiting to make certain your legal conviction. i understand this might adversely impression you, yet some employers are greater prepared to hire you in accordance with what the legal advance into.

Ultimately, for your ability to follow rules - no matter how stupid and intrusive - imposed upon you by some moron.
Any criminal record(s) and whatever is stored in various databases - true or not.

Oh, yes! OOhhhh, yes!!!!!!!!!
Employers do not look for angels, you won't find any here. But they do look for people who have an obvious disregard for rules and regulations...they can't afford to hire them.. In your case, it sounds like you are telling the traffic laws, go (bleep) yourself. They''d wonder what else you'd tell to go (Bleep) yourself.
Good luck. You're going to need it.
