Cantaloupes....rockmelons....muskmelon....squashes...what's the diferrence?

muskmelons...squashes? All look the same to me....which taste better and how do you pick a good tasty flavourful one...any tips..:)

All are cucurbits. Just as it sounds, related to cucumbers. Squash are usually eaten cooked, have drier flesh and may or may not be sweet.
Muskmelons get the name from the aroma. This is a generic term covering several types of melon including cantaloupe. I have only heard the term rockmelon used once in reference to a type or variety of muskmelon. It was small with a thick rind. Picking melons can be a challenge but a muskmelon should have a noticeable aroma. Also when ripe most cantaloupe will fall off the stem, if it has stem attached it is not ripe. Honeydew does not fall off and may not have a strong aroma. I shake them. If I can hear the seeds slosh it is ripe. Persian melons look like large cantaloupe with finer netting on the rind. Not much better than a good one of these.

The all-important difference between Christianity and Judaism is the Person of Jesus Christ.
