I am relatively new to Yahoo Answers and I find an entertaining time killer. I am a mother and frequently cruise the pregnancy/parenting section and I have started to notice an alarming trend. Every day like 50 times a day, a woman or girl will get on here and ask if she is pregnant. Most times it is under very obvious circumstances such as I had unprotected sex before my period and now it is late....am I pregnant? Is there some sort of lack of sexual education in this country? Or did these girls never have "the talk" with their parents? What is going on? Can someone please explain this to me! I am having a very hard time stomaching the fact that someone could be so absolutely clueless.

I don't think agreeance/disagreeance is a word.

I cruise this section because I have been pregnant twice and I am a parent. I like to give advice and have lots of helpful information. I don't have anything to add, though, when a girl asks that if she had unprotected sex, could she be pregnant. That is a no-brainer.

To tell you the truth, I'm not at all surprised at how uneducated these kids are these days. It seems like they're starting to have sex younger and younger and of course parents are too afraid to put the info out there because they want to be in denial that their 11 year old might be sexually active. Personally I didnt find out that I was pregnant until I was 6 months into it, but in my situation I'm the kind of person who suffers from irregular periods, going for about 3 months with nothing... not to mention that I had no morning sickness and all my other symptoms I just attributed to stress. Looking back on it now i feel kind of dumb, so I guess I really shouldnt be taking sides, but what can you do?
I guess my main point is, all you can do is try to educate those near you. Most of these kids dont have the advantages or the education we had... but can you honestly say that u were interested in sex when you were 10-12? Yeah its hard to see how these times have changed us all, but all you can do is *sigh* and help.

I really hope that it's just people's way of getting some reassurance one way or the other. When I was trying to conceive, I searched Answers all the time to see if other girls had similar symptoms and were pregnant. Having to wait until I missed a period took too long. BUT, I think you're right. I think there are a lot of really uneducated people in the world. I don't get it. You're smart enough to find your way onto this website, but you're not smart enough to use protection when you have sex?

I think you guys are being extremely harsh this is the pregnancy and parenting section. My thoughts are:

1. They have been ttc and are looking for any little sign or agreeance.

2. They are and don't want to be so they are looking for disagreeance.

It is easier asking someone you don't know. Yes they should go buy a test but could possibly be too scared to.

Anyway give them a break don't cruise this section if you don't want to see that question or other ones like what is a good baby name etc. there are plenty of other q's to answer!!!!

I think that some of them are in denial and hoping for that one person to tell them it could be something else.

My favorite is ALL of the zillion of women daily who ask "I'm pregnant. What is a good boy's/girl's name?"......

**additional comment - I agree on "agreeance and disagreeance" - I could open up a whole new aspect to this in discussion of how text/IM is producing a whole group of illiterates who don't know how to spell, what is or is not a proper word or how to take the time to read someone's question or response completely before getting their panties in a bunch. As for the baby name question, it is a good question, but not one that needs to be posted over and over and over.... If the person would take a few minutes, they could have their question answered by doing just a little bit of reading. My response to why we cruise this section...there are some good questions and intelligent, caring people there as well.

I feel the same way but if they want to ask the same question a million times a day so be it. It don't take a genius to know if you were having unprotected sex chances are you could be pregnant.

I don't know, I am like you I use Yahoo Answers as a time killer and am also surprised at all the dumb women and girls who don't know about their bodies! Too bad you can't buy STD tests at the store too, with all the unprotected and uneducated sex going on, its no wonder STDs are such an issue!

I agree. I have only been on here for a few days, and I find it very alarming. It would appear that many of the people asking are teenagers, and if they would have been as concerned BEFORE they had unprotected sex, they probably wouldn't even be asking the question.

i think of it quite is as a results of fact they want reassurance. i grew to become into purely questioning the impressive comparable element in the previous I occurred upon this question. What gets me are people who say, "am i able to be pregnant after having intercourse some days in the past?" Duh, you will desire to attend to be certain.

That's what happens when kids get abstinence-only education.
