i feel like an assshole when i say i would call after a first date and dont do it. I'm trying to change that now, and after a first date when should i call her again, should i do the 3 day rule?

I think the thing you should change is don't SAY you're going to call when you really don't want to. That's leading someone on. And the rejection WILL come sooner or later. Don't waste their time and yours by creating false impressions. Just say thanks it's been nice. You don't have to make any promises. A date is just a date. It's not a marriage. Even if the girl was nice that doesn't mean you have to like her. There's no rule that says you have to have any contact with a person after a date.

Sure, three days is fine. The next day is fine too. It's not a real firm rule kind of situation. If she seems to have a really good time, you can call sooner than three days. If she doesn't seem that into you, wait a couple of days so you don't seem over eager. Definitely call within 5 days if at all possible, waiting longer than that is much too long. I would probably write a guy off if it seemed like I could expect to be kept waiting regularly.

Go by what feels right. Did you really like her? Do you really want to talk to her? Then call within 48 hours to show your interested. Waiting too long will make her feel like you ONLY called her because you had no one else to call. Calling too soon (as in a few hours or that next morning) will make you seem desparate. The next evening, or maybe midday a day after will make her feel that she left an impression on you and that you aren't completely needy. Good luck! Oh, by the way, don't get her number is you plan on calling, that's rude.

There is only one rule if you like her. Call her the next day and just tell her you had a wonderful time. After all, if she gave you her number, the chance is she wants you to call.
If your first date was a big, major date... then a nice card is always appropriate.

You should of called her back after the first date. If you real liked her. Call her now and Till her sorry you have not called. And ask if she will like to go on another date.

The three-day rule is a pointless set up that guys made to give themselves time to work up the courage to call the girl back. Whenever you're done being a coward, crawl out from under your bed and dial her number.

no the 3 day rule is too long, especially if it was a good date. 3 days will leave her wondering that maybe you did not have a good time, coming from a female point a day and a half is a good time to wait.
