4 weeks ago, I bought a nifty computer from Circuit City. Even after disabling it's Norton security that's so perfect, that it proudly declares that it has successfully stopped all the programs I've tried to load.
Vista upgrades for my new Lexmark All In One printer won't load. Even after running VistaClean.
Also, Vista doesn't like most of my older programs. You know, the ones I absolutely require to pay the rent!

I'm fed up with these bozos, and their crappy products!

But before I give up and file suit, I was wondering if there was anyone out there with a quick fix?

Request CircuitCity to give you the cd for Vista. Then put cd in tray and restart computer > then reinstall vista from scratch > you wont have any of the annoying programs (like norton) and you can enjoy the computer bliss.

There are two things about computers of which I am absolutely certain.

1. Any new Operating System especially from Microsoft is buggy as heII and will require several trips to the website for patches.

2. I have had two Compaq computers. I thought I was cured after the first one but I broke down and bought a second one. I got a good price and it had been years since my first so I figured they had made a couple of improvements. Well they haven't made any improvements. The price is low because they know what there crap is worth and this time I AM CURED. No more Compaq's for me. I will build my own before I buy more of their trash.

Sorry, but I bet if you trade that for a real computer and put XP Professional on it with all the updates you will spend more time using it and less cussing it.

Good Luck, I really do feel your frustration, I have been there on more than one occasion.

Question is: How much RAM do you have? If you've only got 512mb and are running Vista, that's your problem. Vista works best with AT LEAST 1024mb of RAM.

As for programs not being compatible, I think that's a given when a new operating system comes out. In time other software companies will release versions of their product that ARE compatible with Vista. In fact, you'll eventually see programs out there that are no longer compatible with older OS's. It was much the same way when XP came out. Unfortunately, you're in on the frontend of the new OS, which means you're going to have some problems for awhile.

Good luck.

FIRST OF ALL WHO SAYS NIFTY???? SECOND. YOU'VE GOT TWO PROBLEMS. #1 YOUR USING COMPAQ, THE NUMBER 1 LOSER IN PC AND #2 VISTA. I AM NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN, BUT YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE YOUR HOMEWORK ON VISTA. IN YAHOO Q & A, YOU COULD EASILY SEE THAT MULITPLE PEOPLE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH VISTA. THAT SHOULD TELL YOU TO STICK WITH XP. ALSO EVERY IT TECH THAT I KNOW OR HAVE SPOKEN TO WHEN I MENTION VISTA. BEFORE I CAN SAY ANYTHING ELSE, THEY ARE SAYING NOOOOO.
VISTA IS TOO NEW AND ISN'T COMPATABLE WITH ANYTHING. MY ANSWER TO YOU IS LOSE COMPAQ AND VISTA. BOTH ARE CRAP. VISTA PROBABLY WORKS FOR 1 OUT OF EVERY 15 TO 20 PEOPLE.

vista is so far proving to be a bit of a pain in the a55, i would wait a while now that you have bought a laptop with it, untill there updates and patches for it, and from other older programs come out. but if you can take it back and get your money back i would.

Actually it sounds more like Microsoft issues to me. I checked Vista out, deinstalled it want went back to XP Pro. I just wasn't ready for all the headaches.
