Which one was better? By the way what happened to the host for Soul Train ( forgot his name).........Personally I think Soul train had better dancers...American Band Stand had better dressers:-)

they were both great shows! dick clark started back in the 50s from philadelphia, the host for soull train, don cornelius, both shows treated newcomers in recording industry perfect. i was in a group and did amercian bandstand 4 times. in LA,, and it really helped our sells, soul train gave so many black artists a chance... i congratulate both shows

Don Cornelius was the guys name from Soul Train. I preferred American Band Stand.

His name was Don Cornelius. I think Bandstand was better because it coverered a longer span of years with D.C. He did his show over 4 decades. The music constantly changed from early rock and roll through the British sound, Motown, pop music then to disco, Madonna and beyond. The fashions were just as significant to the times. Soul train had a shorter run
and the clothing styles hadn't changed as drastically. My bets on
bandstand!

American Bandstand had better guests every week. Soul Train had that sweet dance line though. It still comes on but the last time I saw it, it was being hosted by the black cop dude from the show "Charmed". Dorian somebody.

Don Cornelius was his name. He is now the owner and producer of Soul Train. I love both shows for different reasons. ST always had better dancers, AB had a lot of diverse acts and yes they dressed better. Great Question!

I liked American bandstand but watched the dancers on Soul train. Wasn't that guys name Cornelius or something like that?

American Band Stand. I had a big crush on Dick Clark..still do! He 's one of the few celebrities i give a darn about.

I enjoy watching both shows and couldn't wait til Saturdays when they would come on.I just wish they had them both back on TV again,they was both really good.
