Even though I personally own this ultra compact camera, I would still like to highly recommend the purchase of a Nikon Coolpix L10 for the following reasons:

1. Besides taking well-exposed hi-quality 5 megapixel pictures, it uses a standard set of rechargeable double AA batteries which last a very long time;
2. Has a 3x optical zoom;
3. The flash setting for "red-eye" correction is on the navigator wheel and not within a submenu;
4. It's very small and light;
5. Uses inexpensive SD memory cards;
6. The digital video feature takes wonderful "sound" videos which are noise free. It records the piano very well with it's built-in microphone;
7. It comes with a USB 2.0 transfer cable which you connect to your USB computer port;
8. Has tripod mount on bottom of camera;
9. And the price is a mere $99 [sold at Samy's Camera - www.samys.com, and Staples.com.]

Review(s) can be found at www.amazon.com [Query: "Nikon Coolpix L10" along with pictures provided by satisfied purchasers.]

Good luck!

When you say "inexpensive" you did noy give us price range.
The camera you buy depends on your budget, purpose, and other features. Do you want inexpensive DSLR or point and shoot digital camera?

I would go with 5 mega pixels minimum camera and 4X minimum optical zoom. The camera should be able to focus in low light (indoors) without major problem.

There are sites where you can go check the reviews and user forum and www.dpreview.com is one of them.
www.steves-digicams.com is another good source

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 is an inexpensive compact camera which I have as a back to my DSLR.

I have the Canon Power Shot A510 and love it. Salesmen will tell you that it's only 3 MP, and that you'll want more. They'll steer you to the 6, 8, or even 10MP versions, but you don't need them if you're just going to point and shoot pics.

My 3MP with a tripod takes fine pictures for reproducing onto 8.5x11 inch prints, let alone for sharing online. Besides, the higher resolution camera you buy, the bigger the memory card you'll need to buy to go along with it.

So, in the end, you can sacrifice on resolution, since you probably won't need it, and it will keep your costs low. Check out reviews on CNET or other digital photo sites.

Happy Shooting!

i could in simple terms decide for one from a retail keep like Wal Mart or objective or perhaps perfect-purchase for around $eighty or so. The greater pixels the greater suitable the photograph in case you opt for to amplify. there are a number of available and the better the greater suitable for armatures to initiate with. additionally maximum shops will furnish cameras at a stop value. those are the perfect buys to get. The cameras are as good as any, they only have greater recent ones coming in any could pass stuff out to make room for the greater recent ones. continually initiate common in case you do no longer understand in case you're uncertain of beginning a interest. And the digital camera will in no way positioned on out. in case you opt for to pass greater suitable and want a greater costly digital camera, the 1st one (greater inexpensive) will are available reachable mutually as shops interior the glove container in case of an emergency shot. you're able to locate cameras with 10 to 12 pixels for $eighty-a hundred. My first one has 6 pixels and takes extremely great photos. P.S. All manufacturers that I extremely have considered are good.

I got a refurbished Kodak 5.0 mp Easy Share C530 on overstock.com for less than I believe $99. I think they might cost less now. The camera is nice, but just for future reference you might want to buy a memory card. The only thing I dont really like about it is it require 2 double AA batteries that sometimes seems like it runs out quickly.(But thats just bc I play with it too much =P) Otherwise picture qualities are relaly nice and compatible with any printer when printing photos.(just make sur eyou get good photo paper)

You need to be more specific about your needs. If you need action shots, for instance, my choice isn't so good. If you just need general shots, I've been way happy with the Kodak Easyshare. It does really nice closeups, but action and night photography isn't so great. It has been very reliable. My model was recommended to me by other needleworkers to take photos of cross-stitch and it does it very well. I bought mine (EasyShare Z700 - 4x) at Target for just under $200 in late 2005, but it is around $160 now. Amazon has a number of Easyshare camera models for $100 and less.
