That's a toughie. Call a plumber asap and see if he can find it. If you have a septic tank, it will be in there, it will just be very difficult (and nasty) to find. Home Owners Insurance should at least help pay for it, if not completely cover it depending on your insurance.

You've gotten so many different answers, mostly from people who don't have a clue what they're talking about, that's it's almost ridiculous to answer at this point, but I hope I can help.
Homeowner's insurance does cover theft, damage, and loss of personal property, but coverage is usually limited as far as jewelry applies--if you own expensive jewelry, you are supposed to let your insurance company know and they will then add what is called a "Rider" to your policy to provide special coverage for the item(s) at additional cost. The word "expensive" means different things to different people. To some people, $500 is expensive, to people like Paris Hilton, $5 million dollars probably isn't, so without knowing what you mean, and what your policy coverage and limits are, it's hard to say if the insurance company will cover it without a Rider or not. Call you agent. They will automatically suspect it is fraud and it will be investigated, but if it is a legitimate story, you should be reimbursed. My daughter-in-law is a fraud investigator for an insurance company, so I can guarantee you that you will be investigated. This is standard procedure in a case like this. But go for it. That's why you pay insurance.

Get another set of wedding rings from Wal Mart and spend maybe $200 for both of them. The cheap ones from Wal Mart last just as long or longer, and no one knows the difference anyway, and they'll mean just as much.
Seems to me homeowners insurance only covers things beyond the owners control.

You can try homeowners or you can try to call a plumber and have him take the pipes apart to see if it is caught in one of the U-bends. Usually homeowners won't cover it though.
Previous poster is right about the septic system but that's alot of poo to sift through. *shudder* In the meantime don't flush the toilet or run any water down sinks, shower drains, etc.

If you had done something right away, there were possibilities for retrieving it, but now it's too late. Contact your insurance company, and see how much it can be covered for - though don't be disappointed if it isn't at all, or not much. You should have had additional insurance, though.... so sorry....

Check with your insurance agent, then read your policy, you might be covered, but they hate to pay so be prepared to fight for it. I hope you either have a receipt or a estimate for replacement, or at least a picture of you wearing it.
Having a jewelry rider also helps.

The only thing i think you can do is to contact your homeowners insurance co. and ask them if it's included....it very well may be. BUT possibly only if you added it to the policy. that's the only catch. The only reason I know this is because my fiance and I have discussed this with our renter's insurance, and I think they would be the same.
