First, may I ask where you live? Second, how can you have a Sunday School w/o a church, or pastor, or some sort of religious person? Third, if this is something you've felt before but it went away and you want to experience it again, do you believe that "being saved" is going to make that happen? What caused the feelings the first time?

And lastly (and I'm really not trying to be hurtful), what is causing you to feel like you have such a weight upon you?

Now, to answer your question.....I was raised as a Baptist. I left the church many years ago and only recently found a faith that has me oftentimes feeling what you wish to feel. If I were still Christian and still believed, then I would also still believe that the place you choose doesn't matter. What matters (in Christianity) is the ASKING! And then, of course, the living of the faith.

Hope this helps.

Go to the Sunday School for now. Ask the Lord to bring a good pastor to your town to start a church. When you are older (I'm assuming you're a kid) you can move to a place where there's a good church. I think you are already saved. Just keep reading your Bible and praying. Ask God to direct you to good Christian TV and radio programs (there are a few, not many). I'll pray for you. I also remember feeling a big weight come off me when I got saved. That was a long time ago and I have never felt it again. But I have been walking with the Lord ever since. Don't give up. You're on the right road. God is good!

Dear Koolaid,

Praise the LORD. He has given you the desire to be saved so you are on the right track.

It is interesting that there would be a Sunday school but no Church. That makes me a bit suspicious of what they teach.

I have a couple of suggestions.
Keep praying. Tell God that you want to know Him and ask Him to help you get to know Him better. He delights in such desires!

Get a Bible. Do you have a bookstore where you live? Go look through the Bibles in the store and ask God to help you find the right one for you.

The first Bible I read from cover-to-cover was The Daily Walk Bible. It was arranged in daily readings for the purpose of reading the whole Bible in one year. But it was so good that I couldn't put it down and finished reading it in 90 days. It really amazed me that so much of what the Bible says is actually greatly misquoted or ignored by most people.

It is extremely important to know what the Bible says so that you will know whether or not the Sunday school teacher is actually teaching the Truth or he has his own agenda.

The Bible is really God's Love Letter to His creation. And I'll give you the link so you can read a letter called The Father's Love Letter. If you don't want to click on the link I'll paste it here.

It's really quite simple. Just ask Jesus into your heart, admit your a sinner and ask for forgiveness. It's hard to believe their aren't any churches were you live but, if that's a fact I'm sure there are some in a town near you. It won't hurt to travel a few miles to attend a good Bible preaching church. Also, when you read your Bible ask God for understanding of the scriptures before your read, you'll be surprised at how passages will jump out at you bringing a meaning you never seen before. Good luck and God Bless

I have spent 25 years thinking that I was a Christian, defined by the church and the emotions of a religious high. But Christianity is not about a building or an emotional high. It is about a deep affectionate relationship that is zealous and determined to fight. Christianity is about being a follower of Jesus Christ, not a prayer or a rehearse stream of words that mean nothing to you. If you feel the conviction to be with God as a person pursuing Love, then follow what you heart is burdened with.

I think you are looking at "getting saved" in too limited a way. Salvation is a state of being, not a "feeling." You can always pray on your own and have that weight lifted off your shoulders. Faith is a journey, not just emotional experiences. I hope you can find a church nearby or at least some folks to help you in your search.

hello it's great to hear you want jesus to enter your life i acceptes jesus into my life at the age of 5. i suggest continuing the sunday school and just talking to god and praying, asking him to save you and clear your sins and ask him to come into your heart, this will solve the problem and you can get saved in the privacy of your own home if that is what you prefer, if you really want to go to a regular church then my only suggestion is move but that is rather dramatic good luck!
Keep the faith

If you've already gotten saved, you shouldn't have to do it again. If you've fallen away, you should definitely repent and re-dedicate your life to Christ. You can definitely do that at home, just tell him you're sorry for straying away and you want to come back. You may or may not feel what you felt when you got saved, but have faith. God has heard your prayer. There are plenty of churches from all over the world online, you should be able to find one that you can "virtually" attend. Jubilee is a good one: http://www.jubilee.org

I have a question for you. If you have been saved before, why are you doing it again? Are you doing it just for the feeling that the Holy Spirit gives you onces He enters your heart? You should only need to ask God into your heart once and that's it. But you can pray this prayer in the privacy of your own home:

"Lord Jesus, I come to you now. I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe that you love me and shed your blood on the cross for all my sins. I believe in my heart that you were raised from the dead and that you are here right now. I open my heart to you Jesus. Come in and save me now. I thank you for forgiving all my sins. I believe that I have become a child of God. I now turn over my whole life to you. I want you to live in me Jesus to bless me and be Lord over my life. In return I will live and serve you all the days of my life, Amen! "

As far as church is concerned, you don't necessarily have to find a physical church right away. If you have iTunes, you can download podcasts from lots of different churches. My pastor, Erwin McManus from Mosaic Church puts out podcasts for free on iTunes. But you can find podcasts from all sorts of churches, not just mine. Anyway, God bless you on your spiritual journey...oh...and welcome to the family. = )

Do what Jesus did. He didn't have to be saved. Go be with nature, especially a body of water. If you want to feel cleansed just jump in the water and pray to have your heart cleansed and renewed. Your prayers are heard no matter what, but the cleansing is to help you realize how you can feel better about yourself.
