A lot of later christian artist have depicted Christ on the Cross with a skull at the base ( good over evil). Also the Mexican culture is very big on Catholicism and beliefs, they celebrate the "Day of the Dead", which they honor the dead and dress up in skull costumes. My thought goes a little further. Through movies and television and illustrations the skull has been used as a tool to evoke fear, and that could be one reason why a visual of a skull is considered an element of evil.

Are you worshipping the skulls? If not then I don't see it as a sin. Some people like pictures of dogs. Some people like pictures of cats. Some people like pictures of angels. I do not see how pictures of skulls could be considered a sin. However, there are people out there who will argue that just about anything is a sin, so it all depends on who you ask.

A lot of people believe in God and like the way skulls look. I don't think of it as a sin I think of it as a fashion statement. And by getting a tattoo it isn't breaking any of the ten commandments so no it isn't a sin.

There's nothing wrong with liking skulls. There might be a deeper reason as to why, though, and that might be something you need to deal with. But in the O.T. there are parts that talk about body piercings, and body markings being sin. I guess tattoos would encorporate that. But I know a lot of Christians who have tattoos and piercings, you're not condemned to hell for it.

Getting a skull tattoo is a sin, but I don't think it's a sin to look at such pictures. If you're addicted/worshipping the picture, then that's a violation of the 2nd commandment.

I don't think so.
The Greek (Orthodox) monasteries, especially on Mt. Athos, keep the skulls of their dearly-departed monk-brothers...and sometimes they are inscribed with prayers and Bible verses. The keep them around to remind themselves that we are mortal, and will not live on forever.
Also....look carefully at the icon (link below) - - and notice the skull under the crucifix. Jesus was crucified at "Golgotha" - the place of a skull. Iconographers have long depicted the skull under the cross as symbolic of Adam's bones and Adam's sin being conquered.

Do you ever notice people are preoccupied with what a book?
considers a sin instead of automatically knowing the difference between right or wrong..........its the strangest thing and makes me believe even more that religion is for weakminded people who dont know how to live life without guidance from a book and a fictional character.....??
