Mine is of a female warrior, and yet I always get mistaken for a guy. Does anyone else have that problem?

Sometimes my avatars confuse people, I admit.

What I want to know Kallan is why people get us confuse? Lol.

I've had that happen. My avatar is a man with long blonde hair. It represents what I looked like before chemo (it actually comes quite close to looking just like me). I tried some of the shaggier avatar hair styles to match what I look like now... but it didn't look at all right. Once my hair finishes growing back out, I'll be getting that confusion in real life again, too. At least, from the back. My butt's been stared at by a good many heterosexual men; it's a fond memory of what their faces looked like when I turned around!

It did in the past. When I first started using answers I used my yahoo name of genaddt which is not gender specific and I used the cover from Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. I was always mistaken for a guy.

Since I've used the mermaid and my own name it's not happened since.

Often when I had the generic avatar. I was hit on by straight women, had a stint as a gay agony uncle, and frequently called 'bud'. The best one was when an obnoxious young boy told me that I was a hen-pecked pansy for letting women push me around. Never occurred to him that I might have been speaking from a woman's point of view. :-)

Many people have assumed, no one has ever asked.

Mine is pretty ambiguous, and for a while (on my last main account) I was using a sketch of David Duchovny as an avatar, so most people mistake me for a guy either because I used a male image or because, well, people just assume I'm a dude for some reason.

For awhile I just used the basic gray silohuette, instead of an avatar, people thought I was a guy.... I always thought your avatar was nice, and a female warrior.....

I get called Mr. Penguin a lot. And I got a very nasty email once from someone who thought I was gay after talking about my boyfriend here.... Guess they didn't realize I'm female.

I think I'm gonna change my name to "ReeReeGal" or something. But I love Opus, so the avatar stays.

Yes it has a few times...
My avatar is of me, and as you can see I have a beard !!
People, men mostly have called me sweety and dear etc..
I think they associate the term Witch with the female gender and forget about the avatar...
I don't like being called sweety, dear and love by men...
Blessed Be...)O(

No, but to be honest, Hon, the avatar is so small it's hard to tell. It really does appear to me to be male, so I've always thought of you as a man. Sorry.

EDIT: I just read Gandalf's response & I'm ROFLOL--good one!
