had radiator/coolant flush, radiator cap, thermostat replaced. had pressure test, nothing is leaking. cooling fan works. guage gets hot only when on hiway at 70-80mph. engine then smells like rubber? repair shop has no idea. help!

Sounds like you have everything covered...except the water pump.
Just because it's not leaking doesn't mean it isn't working. Also are they sure that the system is full? They may have left a huge air bubble in the system.

You may have a cracked head or a leaking headgasket...
Just some ideas.

The fan is not the problem, it is not effective at highway speeds. Sounds like you have an airflow problem - have you done anything or is there any damage that would restrict the air's ability to flow in through the grill/radiator and back out?
