Of course you won't go to jail for being taken advantage of. Did someone try to file charges against you for something? You can try taking the seller to small claims court to see if you can get something back on it or perhaps they can rescind the deal in small claims court.

I'm not sure what happened to you but a gal I work with traded off her car at a used car dealer. They resold her old car but never paid off her loan on it. The people who bought her old car got a loan on it.

The bank notified the gal I work with that her old car was going to be repossessed for nonpayment. Even after she explained what happened, she was told she was liable for the loan. She couldn't make payments on both cars so she had to file bankruptcy.

This dealer did this to 5 people. She (the dealer) is now in jail, but 2 years after this happened, she did send a check to pay for the traded car. I just thought I would share this story because it never occurred to me that this could happen when you trade in your car.

I read your earlier post. You bought a car and now you can't return it to the mechanic you purchased from because he is gone. What does that have to do with jail?

I think you need to add some details here. If you do I will try to answer.
