Hopefully, 30,000 Iraqi gang members do not return to the US but this is a serious question....

The States can pay 1 year's prison costs as wages - about $50K a year - which is pretty good money, more than the average US Soldier makes over there.

OK, dropping a laser guided bomb from 15 miles above the earth or launching a cruise missile from 2000 miles away can be considered sport as well - what is the difference?

Gang members do not kill for sport any more than the Mafia kill each other for sport. Please do not make the question about killing people for sport.

Why should we send 30,000 reinforcements to our own enemies? What is to keep them from switching sides?

Why do you think gang members would fight for United States government?

I say the good out weighs the bad. It would not help the war effort, but at least we would not have the 30,000 gang members anymore. That would be good for the rest of the country. I don't think the 30,000 gang members will stay alive all that long in Iraq, so it won't be all that big of a problem for the people in Iraq either.

So, as long as there is no plan to bring them back, its OK by me.

Actually the police in LA are having a more difficult time fighting crime because so many young guys do join the Army for the training, then they get out and continue with their gang, knowing how to fight the cops and others with more accuracy.

It would be horrible to send people from prison there. They would only learn more skills to use on the rest of us when they return.

This kind of service would be useful for a gang member to get some needed persepctive to change his ways and go straight. Too bad nobody thought of that for Paris Hilton.

How would the government control their actions? I thin kit would be a useful exercise.

Prisoners, on the other hand, who get offered reduced sentences I can understand.

About half of them will be killed within 24 hours. "Professed badasses" will rapidly learn it ain't no movie. The other half will surrender. Cowards never change.

That's a great idea but they would probably run for the hills. They don't know how to fight, their best thing is drive by shootings when no one is shooting back and they would piss themselves if they were in a real fire fight.

They'll kill each other and the officers who are supposed to lead them.

a lot of innocents will die, but victory will come in about 6-12 hours, or until they run out of weed.
