I have some furnitures to donate and have them pick them up from my house. Salvation Army is one of them, are there any other non-profit organization? I want to make sure that it is given to needy families

Look for listings for Women's shelters. When(battered) women move out of the shelter, they need everything to start over.
There is also an organization called freecycle.org
I have seen an organization called ARC which runs a nonprofit organization in Colorado and other western states. It is a huge place just like Goodwill. All the monies go to support mentally handicapped and people with disabilities.
There may be Sheltered workshops(mentally handicapped) that use donations too.

Just walk to the nearest church and ask the priest. He will know a family who needs furniture now. He will also be able to get some people to pick up the furniture from your home.

Call Goodwill, a local church or homeless shelter. Catholic Charities will, as well.
