I never get burns. I tan easily. I never go out in the early day. But today I went with my class all day swimming. I got my very first sunburn on my face. Its one of those that usually get dark and tan after, but I dont want it too bad red on Friday. Huge even on that day. How can I get rid of it? It burns awfully and is soo red!

The nurse here is pretty smug, isn't she? Don't worry, you won't get skin cancer from one episode of a sun burn!

The only thing she's right about is that you gave your skin too much exposure for what it can handle, and that you need to let it take its course.

Don't do that vinegar thing. The only thing that will do is make you smell funny. Draw the heat out? So will using cool water. Just try to avoid more exposure until you heal completely.

get aloe vera gel either from a plant or one with no junk or vitamin c in it at the health food store...put it on and let sit 10min then rinse with cool water, do it again at least three times or more until you dont feel the burn and the red subsides...it works wonderfully

guess what? you DO get sunburned, obviously. More now than ever before it is essential to protect ourselves from the damage the sun can do. You have found this out the hard way. You can apply pure white vinegar to the burn, then rinse it with cool water, vinegar draws heat out. But the redness and probably peeling are not going to just go away or not happen, you have damaged your skin beyond it's ability to tolerate. Now you get to spend the rest of your life looking for skin cancer, aren't you lucky?
