I have worked for the same company that I do now that I've become an RN. My question is if after I gave my company proof that I had my RN license, are they supposed to immeadiatly accept that and start giving me the RN pay? (If this is confusing, what has happened is that they continue to put me on the schedule as an LVN and give me LVN pay). They are the ones who wanted me to con't working for them as an RN...Please help, as I think they are taking advantage of me.

My supervisor was the one who asked me to stay on at the company after I got my RN license. I gave them my license the day i got it in the mail and they photocopied it...

I work at a home health agency doing home health visits....I've been instructed on SOC and discharge/recerts. But RN's do "follow up visits too, and I would think that would include a pay raise. (?)

They are taking advantage of you. If you are now RN, they should adjust your pay and position if applicable. I suggest going to your supervisor or someone overhead and bringing this to their attention. If they do not accommodate you, I suggest finding a different facility that will.

I am also an RN, congratulations on your accomplishment. You need to talk with your immediate supervisor right away. There is more involved than just pay--responsibility being #1. Have your responsibilities changed to reflect your RN status? Are you signing with RN? Being listed as an LVN on the schedule may just be a glitch in the system. Check with your supervisor to assure that you're not only receiving the pay of an RN but carrying out the responsibilities/duties of an RN.

Logically they should, but if they just have jobs for you that require the LVN but not the RN, maybe they wouldn't until they have an opening for an RN. They aren't legally obliged to pay you any set amount unless you have a contract that says they are.
Have you asked your supervisor why they haven't upgraded your status and pay, and when you can expect that to happen? That would be a good first step.
In any case, congratulations on getting your RN - took a lot of hard work, I'm sure, and is a real accomplishment.

Did you ever apply for an RN position? If not, it doesn't matter that you are an RN. You are still working the LVN position. You need to go to HR and see if they will promote you to RN, look for jobs in the company as an RN, or go somewhere else if there are no RN positions at you current workplace.

My wife is an RN. Has been for the last 6 years. Just spoke with her on the phone. She says that it depends on whether or not you had an agreement with the company you work for. If they agreed to boost your pay with you aquiring the RN license, then they will have to pay you or you should let them know that you can work elsewhere. Trust me. I know already and you shoult too, that RN's are in high demand. Go where you can be happy with the money and the atmosphere.
Ask your charge nurse or the house supervisor why you haven't gotten a hike in your payrate. See what they say.

Yes! They are taking advantage of you. You are no longer and LNV--you are an RN and you should be paid as such. I would complain and if they continue to do it, find another job. Jobs for RN's are PLENTIFUL! You worked hard for that RN! Do not let them do this to you. If you wanted to stay and LVN, you would have done so, right? I am sooooo proud of you for getting the RN--I have been an LVN for almost 20 years. I really wish that while I was younger I would have gone back to school.

NOPE! Total myth. I didn't even know LVN's still existed! NO ONE uses them in this day and age. LPNs can only work in nursing homes. In hospitals it's RN or bust, and they want BSN. The schools are making LOTS of money putting people thru RN school. About 25K per student per year. Because they can. It's all supply and demand.

That does not sound right. I would talk to your HR department. As an RN, you should receive RN pay, no matter how they schedule your work.
If not, nurses are in great demand, look for another employer.

Tell them you expect your raise and the acknowledgment of your RN. If they don't respond immediately, get another job. RNs are in drastic need everywhere!

congratulations on receiving your RN status. State to state does differ, but for the most part they may be waiting to giv you new responsibilites because of you new title. when they have that established i am sure you will receive new pay.
