When you get bailed from jail, there is a fee that must be given to the court to guarantee you will not flee and will show up to your court date. Because most people don't have enough money to "put up" the bail amount people hire bail bondsmen to pay this. The money is a guarantee that you will show up in court, so if you do the bail bondsmen get their money back, if you don't show they loose the money. It's in their interest to get you to show up in court and are authorized to forcibly take you there.

You pay the bondsman 10% of the amount of bail. He puts up the rest. If you don't show up for court, bounty hunters get to hunt you down.
