Sometimes I find myself very skeptical about if God can hear me and that leads me to believe he doesn't care about me if I can't find it in my own heart to know that he is really there. How do I talk to God? Does he understand me?

If you are confused about the existence of any god, ask sincere questions and expect sincere answers

Carl Sagan said this and I think it's profound - "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence"

Use that as a measuring stick

Do you find skepticism about God hearing you or about the existence of Him?
If you believe in him, and you pray with sincerity, he will hear you.
The Lord's prayer is a model for you to use, not necessarily THE way to pray to God. Use it as a guide line.
In the prayer, acknowledge the fact that he is Lord, holy and beyond reproach.
Accept that these days will end and the world will be born again, with direct rule from heaven. If you believe, you know it to be true.
Thank him for the things he had done for you. There must be a few.
Ask him to continue to provide the things you need. Not necessarily the things that you want. Big difference.
Ask for guidance though what ever personal issues you have. He works in ways we don't understand, sometimes though people we've never met.
Acknowledge that His will be done, not that your will can be made possible through him.
Be humble. Pride comes before the fall.

You talk to God just like you typed on the computer. You don't have to use 'religious' words or say any certain prayer. Praying is like talking to your best friend. Use the same vocabulary as you would normally.

But here's where most people (including me) miss is the most. It's in the silence that God answers.

It would be like your friend walking into your room. Talking to you for 30 minutes (or so), asking questions, telling you their needs and then running out the door before you had a chance to answer.

Prayer is a 2 sided conversation.

God Bless!

God is omniscient. He knows everything. He is omnipresent. He is everywhere. He is omnipotent. He is all powerful. He hears His children's prayers. He already knows their prayer before they pray. God cares deeply about His children. "He wants that none should perish. He has plans to bring them to an expected end."

Pray in silence.
Even you don't express what you want to tell him/her in words,
god knows exactly what you want to express to him, what you need, and how you feel. He understand you better than you.

Just sink down... and let go of all "your" thoughts. If that's hard, then chat with god as if you are talking to your parents.

God always wants a relationship with you. Just talk to him like a friend. Tell him whatever you want.

You must first open your heart to the possibility that he is there. Once having done that, simply talk to Him. I can assure you He will hear you....and will give you an answer so that you will know it is He. Talk to Him...then be still....and listen.

This is the lords prayer:

Our Father Who Art In Heaven,
Holloed Be Thy Name,
Your Kingdom Your Will Be Done
On Earth As It Is In Heaven,
Give Us Our Daily Bread,
And Forgive us Our Truspasses,
As We Forgive Those Who Trusspass Againts Us,
Leed Us not Into Timtation But Deliver Us from the evil one.

Memorise this. It is all in the book of Mathew.
