If you are in DEP then you are not in the Navy yet. You don't need to 'switch'. Just go talk to a marine recruiter.

Honestly though, the navy is a good choice. I went into another branch while some of my friends joined the navy.....I missed out on alot of good times......girls at EVERY port around the world for starters.

But it is your choice. The DEP is a joke, and until you get shipped off to basic you are not in the military. So you can make the choice to talk to a recruiter....or even stay a civilian. Your future is still in your hands.

First of all Blue to Green is for enlisted people, those already in the military and you have to complete for full contract before enlisting in the other branch.

You are in DEP. You are not in the Navy. If you changed your mind about enlisting into the Navy you need to tell your recruiter you want to be DEP discharged to join the Marines instead.

You better be sure you can even qualify to enlist in the Marine Corps because if you aren't the Navy may never take you back or make you wait 6 months before being able to try again.

Your recruiter and their entire chain of command will tell you cannot do this, but you can. All you are doing is asking to be discharged from DEP to enlist in the Marines. Talk to a Marine recruiter FIRST before doing anything. The Marines and the Navy are not even close to being the same thing as you think. Marines get to see combat first hand and never get to have things easy. The Navy is hard, but not like that. It is up to you, but you better be sure of what you are wanting.

If you are only in DEP talk to your recruiter. Understand that he get points for every one he gets to enlist so he won't let you switch without a fight. Go talk to a Marine recruiter they can help you get out of the DEP wit the Navy. I did what you are asking backwards - I left Marine DEP for Navy.

If you are in DEP you can drop out at any time. You are not really in the navy as of yet. Once you drop out any Marine recruiter will talk to you about enlisting. However, as long as you remain in navy DEP the Marine recruiter cannont talk with you.

if you are currently in DEP, you have not yet contracted for the Navy. you can ask to get out, and then try to get into the Marines, but they will take one look at the fact that you failed to ship out for the Navy and wonder if you won't pull the same stunt with the Marines.

Can it be done? yes. will it be easy? probably not. you will have to level with yoru Navy recruiter sooner rather than later and just be honest.

Geeez just because your in DEP doesn't set in stone you will go. You haven't signed an oath of enlistment or you would be in Boot Camp. Talk to the Marine recruiter and ask him/her (yeah Ive seen female jarheads). Recruiters don't tell ya everything just enough to keep you in their corner...

Although the rules may have changed so do call the Marines.

Navy sailor said it best. You aren't yet in the Navy, but defiantly talk to both sides before you decide.

I already answered this question, as did others.

Spamming this question over and over again, WHEN YOU'VE ALREADY GOT THE ANSWER is just annoying.

You're only in DEP. "Blue to Green" is for active duty personnel.
