I WAS RAISED THAT A THANK YOU NOTE IS JUST GIVEN...TO THIS DAY I WRITE A THANK YOU NOTE EVEN IF IT WAS JUST A CASUAL DINNER BECAUSE THIS IS THE POLITE THING TO DO ...WELL THAT AND FEAR THAT MY GRANDMOTHER WILL COME BACK A GIVE ME A WHOPPIN IF I EVER START FORGETTING THAT JUST CAUSE WE COUNTRY DONT ME WE AINT GOT GOOD BREEDING!!!!!!!!

A written thank you note is a conventional thing to do in the U.S. It is getting more and more rare though.
