My hubby and I have VERY different styles when it comes to decor. We are very happy and have been married 12 years. We will be moving soon, and would like to sort of re-do our look to incorporate his minimalist taste with my eclectic nature. (Our look right now is no style at all, just some stuff we got over the years) I would like ACTUAL experience from couples who have managed to "marry" their styles, and how they did that. Please don't refer me to "Designing for the sexes" or websites with similar content, as we have a very limited budget, and just want to each show our style without a huge investment. Creativity is a plus!!

Oh, honey, I've been there three times! What worked for us was to start with a huge piece of art, like a colorful travel print, that was over the sofa. His bachelor looking sofa. Then we both picked out a color from the print and got to pick accessories like throw rugs and pillows. We took other colors from the artwork for candles and pottery stuff. I made a slipcover for a comfy but ugly chair in a print fabric that matched the accessories for about $15 from a clearance rack at the fabric store. It actually looked pretty nice, blending both our styles (or his lack of, LOL) into a cohesive but warm and put together home! Good luck!

Luckily I'm into decorating and my husband's and my tastes are so similar but you can marry both of your styles as long as you don't get too eclectic and he doesn't have to go completely stark. Ikea is a nice contemporary clean style that would allow you to dress it up a bit with your style. Just think clean lines but with a little punch....not clutter.

My wife is always right....

Seriously, though. Perhaps split up areas of the house or rooms that some go with your style and some with his style. This will work if your individual styles are not too different. You should be able to make it flow even with contrasting styles in adjacent rooms.

I even have in no way been in that place formerly yet i think of that is secure to declare that i would not leap out a window over it. perhaps with the aid of fact deep down i comprehend that men are actually not of course monogomus and that it particularly is a actuality that a guy could cheat on you, in spite of if he does love you. i in my view have a feeling that for the lady who killed herself, it replaced into extra advantageous than in simple terms the undeniable fact that he cheated. i'm particular that something else equipped as much as that very final straw that broke the camel's back. i've got been informed with the aid of fellows that i'm not the 'everyday' variety of chick and so perhaps it is why i might in all probability trust you and your acquaintances and say that the lady's action replaced into very drastic and not fairly installation to the situation.

Start with his clean lines and fill in sparingly with your ecletic touch and by the itme you both finish you will have equal parts. When I was a interior decorator, I use to take both husband and wife into account and come up with a compromise they both liked.

It really is easier than you think....(I'm ecletic too, so I understand)

Creativity... togetherness... communication... I suggest you both take a look at what you have (or don't but want to buy), and together TALK about the things you'd lijke in your new home. I am remodeling our home myself, but talk to my spouse about what he would like in what room... if I don't care for it, we compromise. But whatever you do, do it together! THAT'S what makes a relationship work!

A bit of minimum with a touch of eclecticity! Cool! I like that! lol

Good luck!
