The main risk is from bacterial infection however if your dog is unvaccinated it could contract rabies. Leptospirosis is also a major concern but is easily treated if detected early. Take the mouse and your dog to the vet so they can get checked for diesease. The mouse could have spread disease to others around the area and it's always nice to know if there is an increased risk of infection in the area. Your dog could be seriously infected and not show any signs. There are so many cases out there of owners who don't know what symptoms to look for and their dogs turn out having some form of disease that eventually causes pain and suffering. Since dogs don't always cry or yelp when in pain these sypmtoms are often overlooked.

I would probably not take the puppy to the vet unless it started to get sick. Watch your puppy very carefully and make sure that it is eating, drinking water and its "buisness" looks normal.
As for the dead mouse - I would teach the dog the command "Leave it". I use this on my dogs when we are out for a walk and they sniff at something that I don't want them to mess with. Also teach the puppy the command "Drop it". This is helpful when they have something in their mouth that they shouldn't have. You need to also be able to open up your puppies mouth and retrieve what ever it is and the puppy not growl or resist in any way. Make sure that you praise the puppy for a job well done - when he/she leaves the item alone as well as when they allow you to get something from their mouth.
Hope this is of some help. This has worked for all of my dogs.

I personally wouldn't worry about it, unless the puppy started showing signs of illness. I live on a farm (400+ acres) out in the country and If I ran my cat or a dog to a vet every time they chewed on something like that... I would have to move my furniture into the vets office. Make sure of course your puppy is up to date on all his vaccinations. I have never had an animal get sick over something like this... all my babies have lived to ripe old ages.

When my German Shepherd/Doberman Pinscher was a puppy, she chewed a bottle of head cleaner for the VCR. She never got sick or anything, and has eaten many "questionable" items since then. Your puppy will probably be OK, but if you see any change in attitude or temperament you might want to check with your vet.

you might even see signs and warning signs of him being ill notably rapidly. Listless, throwing up. with a bit of luck you talked approximately as a vet's place of work and asked them approximately this. i think of plenty might relies upon on the dimensions of your pup.and how plenty dcon the mouse ate to kill it. perhaps the mouse died from different motives beside poison?? My canines have ate some particularly nasty stuff and survived. issues that made me throw up while i attempted to bathe it up. to not point out cat poop!! Too undesirable that would not lead them to ill, perhaps they might not grab a "kitty snack" each possibility they get. LOL i'm hoping you will let us know if the little guy is okay.

Mouses carry alot of different diseases. I would suggest you calling or bringing in your vet ASAP.
