Siddhartha Gatama (also known as Buddha) lived his adult life as a learner seeking enlightenment. He shared what he learned with those who chose to listen.

Buddha was NOT a spiritual being. He was NOT a god nor did he acknowledge gods. He didn't give a fig whether you listened to him or not... He merely shared his thoughts... Nothing more and nothing less.

Well I believe buddha was a prophet, sent by God. This is kinda funny, but when it comes to religion, I believe in a lot of things, but I don't follow a set religion. Buddha taught love, peace and morality and that's pretty righteous. And as far as background goes, buddha was born prince saddartha(howevr u spell it) who was sheltered ad never taught about pain and suffering people had to endure. Until oe day while taking a ride in his chariot he saw a very poor old man. After that he wanted to help people. He started teaching things that would help people live better lives.

As an antidote to the intolerant drivel posted so far:

Buddhism has enlightened minds the world over, by propagating a truthful, candid, and ingenious way of life. Buddhism encourages people to find meaning in their life. You will find these Buddhist quotes enlightening as they reveal the power and beauty of Buddhism.

Teachings of The Buddha

On Judgmental People:
People with opinions just go around bothering each other.

On Anger:
Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.

On Truth:
Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.

On Anger:
You will not be punished for your anger; you will be punished by your anger.

On Work:
To be idle is a short road to death and to be diligent is a way of life; foolish people are idle, wise people are diligent.

On Friends:
An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind.

On Love:
You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

On Envy:
Do not overrate what you have received, nor envy others. He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind.

On Good Deeds:
Neither fire nor wind, birth nor death can erase our good deeds.

On Thought:
The mind is everything. What you think you become.

On Gratitude:
Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful.

On Hatred:
Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule.

I know the buddha was a charlatan, a megalomaniac, a hater of woman, a dictator(he wanted to control every detail of his follower's lives), a hater of tradition, a hater of family, a hater of freedom, and a hater of independent thinking. Besides that, I think he developed some spiritual understanding, but he twisted it to his own ends.

it's the only religion in the world that makes sense...we have people worshiping a fairy tale, people worshiping a dead guy 5 times a day, people worshiping trees and bunnies, people worshiping somebody that would torture them, and people worshiping everybody by not making their mind up...yet Buddhism still remains, in theory at least, the best religion.

Buddha is just one of many false gods. The bible says that there should be no other gods before God. Christianity is the only faith thats savior has come. EVERY other religion is still looking for answers, waiting for a savior, and still asking why
