If all the lottery profits are going to the schools than why when the budget needs to be cut than why is it tbat schools are the first to lose money? We need the money for schools and now they say that there is not enough money for the schools. With all the money that is spent on the lottery you would think that there would be enough money for the schools. Why is this I just saw a commerical that said OVER 600 MILLION went to the schools last years. I just do not get it.

i have always wondered the same thing. my granddaughter was in kindergarten this past year and we had to buy stuff for the school like copy paper, kleenex, soap to wash the kids' hands with, candy, etc. they had to sell candy bars so that the 5th graders could take a field trip, not the kindergarteners but the 5th grade class. the school system here in south carolina literally SUX. what does the lottery money pay for.? i would love to know that also?

In Ohio, there are a lot of mad people for this reason. They gave X dollars to education from the lottery; and took away the same amount which was previously coming from the general fund; thus effectively increasing funding to the general fund rather than the education fund.

That's called politics; and that's why nobody believed them last year when they tried to pass a bill allowing more gambling with the promise of money to education. We know better now.
