This is not true. I am certain of this.
All soldiers critically woulded in Iraq are evac'd to Germany for additional 'higher level' of care. If that soldier dies, they are counted as Killed in Action.

No, Janet, that is not true.
For someone to be listed as KIA -- killed in action -- they had to perish directly from wounds sustained in combat before they could be evacuated to in-theater medical support. That would mean medical facilities in Iraq or Kuwait.
If the woulded Soldier dies at a later date from the wounds recieved in combat, he is still listed among the dead from the battle, and would be included in the count of the war dead.

Anybody who dies as a result of injuries or disease received in Iraq (regardless of whether the injuries are combat related or not) are included in the total of war dead.
If the soldier dies before he/she could be evacuated to medical care they are listed as KIA (Killed In Action).
If the soldier dies after receiving medical care at a hospital the are listed as DOW (Died Of Wounds). And it does not matter where or how long after the injury that death occurs - if the death can be reasonably assumed to have resulted from an injury in Iraq they are listed as war dead.
If the soldier dies of non-combat causes they are listed as DNBI (Disease and Non-Battle Injuries).
If anything the death toll in Iraq is inflated as age-related heart attacks (which would have occurred anyway) are listed as 'combat losses.'

Nope, that is a myth.
Any soldier who dies from battle injuries, no matter where they are when they die, are counted as KIA.
If you go to the CNN web page that list casualties of the war.
They list where the soldier actually died, , aka: Iraq, Germany, Walter Reed.
It is a myth perpetuated by the anti war crowd , trying to say the government is covering up the true causality count.

I THINK they would not be listed as KIA because technically they were not killed in action. Splitting hairs here obviously. However, they would be counted as Iraq war dead.

No, I believe they're counted as KIAs due to the nature of their wounds.

Killed in action means they die while they're "in the field" or their plane is shot down.
A soldier that has evacuated and later died is not considered killed in action
