Traveling to Hong Kong from Seattle.?

I have friends in Hong Kong what all will I need...Cheap Airfare etc...i don't have to worry about hotel because I will stay with my friends.

Airfare, try www.kayak.com or www.sidestep.com for a selection of different airlines.

What you will need? Carry some facial tissues, get a six pack or two from Target for a couple bucks, either kleenex or Target brand. Why? They don't usually have napkins in most restaurants and sometimes toilet paper. I would say that is the most important inconvenience of visiting Hong Kong. Also, carry a hankerchief to wipe your brow for perspiration. And maybe a small pocket calculator to help you with currency conversion.

Your friends may suggestion buying an Octopus card, it is quite useful in getting around Hong Kong, you can pay for subway fare and food. It's like a prepaid debit card.

If you have a gsm phone that is a triband, take it with you. You can buy a sim card there and be able to contact your friends when you are apart. Orange is a good company. You can text and make calls with it. You can find the sim card in the airport. Check with your HK friends what they may suggest or they may have an extra phone. Just in case you get separated for a long period.

If you go across the border to Shenzhen or Guangdong just be prepared for squatting down toilets. Very few western sitting toilets except in hotels.

You can exchange your money at the airport, or at least enough to get you on the express train unless your friends pick you up by car.
