How exactly do you pray "hard" as opposed to praying "soft"? I always found the word "hard" completely unnecessary when referring to prayer.

Thoughts?

Prayer, itself, is unnecessary. Prayer is a way of feeling good about doing something without actually having to do anything. There's nothing really hard about it. It is a waste of time.

One man with a hammer can do more good than a billion people praying.

I guess it means to pray with incredible passion. Some do this every time they pray...most of us in this modern, fast-paced, ADD culture can't spend more than 10 minutes in prayer, much less in deep prayer.

I suppose I would say an example of "praying hard" would be Jesus' prayer in Gethsemene, when drops of blood fell due to His anguish in prayer. That was probably the most passionate prayer ever made.

Praying "hard" to me means praying with much fervor, and with much intensity. Really trying to get something out of it. And while I've never heard the term praying "soft", I think I know what you mean, and to me it means just going through the motions of praying, without putting much if any thought into it. The scriptures sometimes call it praying with "vain repetition".

Praying "hard" is just vanacular for giving it all you have. Allowing yourself to be completely immersed in prayer. Maybe a better word would be praying "intensely"

Hard (steady or steadfast, earnestly) that type of thing.
It's like when you are going through some serious testing such as "Have you considered my servant Job?" You pray longer, steady and faithfully everyday until the Lord delivers you from it.

Rather than a simple prayer like "Lord please help me find my keys before I miss this very important meeting".... LOL
That's a lil soft prayer.... :)

I'm no longer religious in any conventional sense, but I have my own personal form of spirituality and I do pray to whatever is out there - whatever force energises our reality as humans. I've never heard the term "soft prayer" and I think it's absurd; you just made it up,obviously. As to praying hard you should not have to be a genius to figure that one out - whatever your own spirituality - and that it would refer to praying with unusual fervency or intensity. I'm sure you know that. Why all these silly questions? Are you people just bored?

You pray hard by praying faster. That way you can pray for more things, and the more things you pray for the more things you get, which will make you happier.
So try praying faster.

If you have ever had your spirit broken down and bee non your knees pleading with God to hear your cries...That is different than your average bed time good night Father prayer...

I think you throw your whole heart and soul into it and ray like it is the only thing in the world worth doing. But don't bother. God's not interested in answering our prayers. Actually that sounded rather bitter. Sorry.
