i am trying to put version 6.06.1Lts on my old machine. I have been runing windows XP on it although very slowly. I get the instal option then after a short while I get UNABLE TO LOCATE R.S.D.P What is r.s.d.p and how do I solve the problem.

If your machine is old, use Xubuntu instead, as it's designed for older hardware. It's simply Ubuntu with Xfce as its desktop environment instead of Gnome.

6.06 (Dapper Drake) is quite an old version of Ubuntu. I recommend you download the newest version, 7.04 Feisty Fawn. Unlike Windows, newer versions don't necessarily need newer hardware to run - in fact the opposite is likely to be true. You might find that installing the new version solves your problem.
