We were passing through this one neighborhood when a latino lady had just crossed the street. She stopped dead in her tracks and was looking at my wife(Yes my wife is 8 1/2 months pregnant as well). I stopped to ask her why she was staring so hard at her(and yes i was very polite). When all of a sudden she sneered at me and flipped me off. Then proceeded in turning and walking away. What do you think upset her? I don't know but it seems to me that ppl are acting very strange.

I carry an 80 pound pack on our bike rides together just in case anything were to occur. And i ride just behind and to the left side of her rear sprocket in case a driver was coming not paying attention so as to push out of the way in case something like that were to happen.

it was just weird, that's the first time we've had that happen to us on our bike rides together.

ramitemporalis: We don't use government services bud. In fact we try to stay as far away from needing anything from them. Our kids attend public school, yes, but that's the only extent. And trust me when i say we pay immensely for that in our taxes.

ROSEY: Race is not an issue with me dear, however it's becoming very self evident that it in fact is with others. I could care less what color your skin is if you're hurt or injured and need help and i was there and/or nearby. What she did was uncalled for, and the only reason i asked her was to find out what her intentions were. The stare itself set off bells and whistles. Remember my wife is pregnant as well. My awareness of my immediate surroundings are heightened(as to why, i hope that is self explanatory).

My immediate responsibility is her and the baby at that time and moment.

I don't think it was racial. I'm agreeing with whoever said she could have mental illness.

Maybe because your wife is pregnant and riding a bike...which i dont see anything wrong with it...but some people and some cultures might think that a pregnant woman...especially that pregnant should be at home in bed....but hey...good for her for staying healthy while pregnant....she will thank herself after the birth!!! Congrats on the little one!

She was probably amazed at seeing a very pregnant woman riding a bike. Sorry but I do find it a bit hazerdous. Exercise is a must but on her own two feet. Nothing she can fall off of. She could fall for any number of reasons.

I don't agree with the |lady's" reply though.

That is strange, maybe she thought it was dangerous to the baby for your wife to be riding, in case she fell off or wrecked the bike?

I think too many of your respondents, and perhaps even you have put race into this equation when it has nothing to do with it.. It's a very well known fact that riding a bicycle that late into pregnancy can be very dangerous.. that is why the lady was staring...

It had nothing to do with being rude or being racist.. it simply was shocking for her to see your wife on a bike..

I love that. I was at Walmart the other day, trying to find a parking spot. This mexican came out of the store, walked right in front of me,I slammed on my brakes. He smashed his hand on my hood (thank God he didn't leave a mark otherwise I would have to return the favor, I am on the brink of being pissed at the point) and flipped me the bird. I was like 3 feet away and I just thought to myself "What? I was a yard away!! Remember what country you're in amigo". Oh well, so far I haven't been directly affected by the flood, but I have almost been hit by "guests" that ran stoplights and let their kids run down mainstreet naked. I love it.

It's funny that that is on here just days after that happened to me.

I live in Az. and if you're white, that sort of thing happens all the time. A mexican and his buddy almost ran over me in a circle K parking lot last week and instead of apologizing they made jokes about it in the store then started speaking spanish, included in their conversation was the word gringo. They're racist people and they most definitely are not here for a better life.

I bet you see her again in 5 years she will smile while she's huddled around her 7 anchor babies. You were a threat because she thought you were "out breeding" her.

Maybe she didn't speak english and thought you had said something rude to her. Or maybe she was upset that your wife might qualify for some free services and she won't get as many.

Maybe she just didnt like that you had asked her. Don't worry about it. As long as you and your family is happy that is all that matters.
