There is a cancer causing agent in diet coke. The caffiene free part doesnt make any difference. The stuff in soda products is so disgusting if you look into it, I wouldnt drink it!
Also, diet cokes fake sweeteners cause your body to prepare for sugar intake. When the sugar doesnt come you end up craving it! So in the end you probably eat sugar afterwards to more than makeup for drinking a regular soda.
The best bet would be to not drink soda at all, especially diet.

Well now: back in my day, about 60 years ago, it was "Coke" would give you cancer. Or coke would rot your teeth, it was a conspiracy by the dentists. Another one was coke would give you polio. So, you see, it's another urbane legend.

If you read up about aspartame, you will NEVER ingest it again; it's highly toxic.
