If you want to get yelled at, cussed out and hung up on, then yes it is a good job. At 16 it can be hard to get a job, but keep looking and you will find something.

It's a job! I was a telemarketer and it's a little tiring, a lot of the people will yell at you when you call their houses. Also the companies that I have seen will have a very high turnover rate, if you don't make the quota then you are out of a job. There is someone else that they can have in the seat making calls and closing deals. If you are needing a job at 16 you should go to the mall's and see what is available.
Good luck!!

i can not believe some of the answers here. They are saying you have to deal with rude people. The telemarketer caller is the rude one, You are calling a perfect stranger and now you want them to be nice to you.
There is no telling what they are doing. They could be in an emergency situation and the last thing they want to hear from is some idiot calling them.
Even if they are not in an emergency situation you are intruding on their personal life.
Then there is the Do not call list. If you happen upon one of those numbers you can be sued for approximately $11,000 per call as well as the company you are working for can be sued for that same amount.
In my opinion Telemarketing is the worse job in the world.
When I do get a call from one I use to tell them to hang on. Then I would leave the telephone and go back to doing what I was doing until I know they are off the phone. I am now on the do not call list. I am just waiting for someone to call me. I am going to sue them for the maximum I can get to include attorney fees.
I hope this has been of some help to you, good luck.

Telemarketing is all about sales and calling up people for whatever you are selling. You are required to make a certain amount of commission before you can keep the position. So, no.

I loved it when I was younger. The only thing that kind of sucks is once you get off work you will not want to talk on the phone at all. And sometimes people can be sh*tty on the phone but don't let them bring you down. You should at least give it a try.

It depends on how you feel about the people you are calling. You must remember that EVERYONE HATES CALLS FROM A TELEMARKETER! Can you handle rude customers? Can you keep your cool and stay curteous?
Other than that, I hear telemarketing pays well.

You have to have the right personality for it. If you don't mind being cussed at, screamed at, hung up on, yelled at, and called names... then go for it. Otherwise, it's not a good idea.

There is money to be made. Its not easy work. Expect rejection. And there will be those that will be most happy for you to have called them too so it isn't all negative.
