I removed my factory deck on my 2000 F-150. The "special tools" are very helpful because they are thicker than standard coat hangers, but if you do not have them, the like the previous answer, cut and bend pieces of coat hanger to fit into the holes on the sides of the factory deck (vertically), and pull out, with a little movement, this will release the factory locks on the deck and it will slide out.

if u take off the speaker covers and examine the colors of the wires for each speaker u could be left with 3 wires...a million floor, 1constant warm, and a million it is warm basically while the secret is on. u can attempt those with a multimeter or a volt meter. additionally the speaker wires would be 2 all the same coloration one with a stripe and one with out. this could help be sure which r the speaker wires. good success.

It requires "special" tools.

If you can, just take it to the nearest dealership and ask them to release the stereo. Unless they are total d*cks, they should pop it right out.
