It is a waste of money. They just want to make it convienent for themselves and soak you for more money. If your covered by insurance, it does not matter what you drive, it is insured. Mean same driving class as your license.

You should check with your own insurance company first. Sometimes when you rent a car your coverages follow you. Just take a copy of your declarations page. Also some Platinumn credit cards have "Collision Damage Waiver Insurance" Check with your card. But I wouldn't get any tornado insurance. All you really need is liability and collision. Maybe comprehensive if you think your car might be stolen or your in a high crime area.

I would just get liability and collision through the rental company. Note that with credit cards offering collision coverage, the credit card company's coverage may be secondary - you would have to first claim through your regular insurance first. Then the credit card company will cover what is not covered by any other insurance. For the credit card coverage to be effective, you would be required to decline the rental car company's collision coverage.

If you have full coverage on your car, it will carry over to your rental ... whatever your deductible is on your own car, it will apply to the rental.
TYPICALLY... rental company insurance is a rip off...you generally pay twice for the same coverage

Some credit card companies have the rental insurance included if you charge the rental on their card. Call your credit card issuer and see if that is the case. The coverage is usually on their gold or platinum cards. good luck

That's hilarious. The rental company is trying to shaft you. If you have full coverage then your insurance will cover damage due to wind, fire, and water.
