My son is almost 7 yrs. old and on Saturday he was acting very funny. He was very quiet and withdrawn, pale, and wouldn't eat. I took his temp. and it was 95.1. Which I thought was very low. He was not exposed to anything real cold. I immediately wrapped him up in blankets and his temp. did go up.
Why would that happen? Should I call his doctor? Does anybody know if this could be a side affect from taking Adderall XR.? He takes that for ADHD.

I would definitely get him to a doctor as soon as possible. A body temperature below 95 F is considered dangerously low. Even though you say his temp went up after putting blankets on him, that temperature is not normal for a 7 year old. There could be any number of reasons why, only a doctor that can check out your son personally can figure out what is going on.

Good Luck

There are many possible causes. With these symptoms, an uderactive adrenal gland is a likely possibility. The doctors will probably want to have a fasting blood test. Low body temperature is not listed as a side effect of Adderall.

Okay, here's what my parents did. Back when we were kids, it wasn't ADHD, it was hyperactivity. They tried Ritalin, but it had the opposite effect. They took him off and put him(and us) on the Feingold Diet. It's been a lifesaver. You may want to research it and put your family on this diet. It's a very healthy living diet, without any bad side or adverse effects. Good luck.
